We can confirm that the following players will be departing Penicuik Athletic this summer:
Robert Watt
'Bob' joined us in March 2019 from Tynecastle, helping the club to the East of Scotland Conference A title win. Another highlight came with a Man of the Match performance in our Scottish Cup tie at Partick Thistle before an excellent 2021/22 season saw him win both the Supporters Player of the Year and Coaches Player of the Year awards. He made his 100th appearances earlier this season and leaves us on 104 appearances and 29 clean sheets.
Greg Page
Pagey's first spell at Penicuik began in November 2018 when he signed from Tynecastle. He also played his part in the East of Scotland Conference A win, before scoring his only goal for the club against Hill of Beath in the 2019/20 season. He departed for Musselburgh in July 2021 and returned to the Cuikie last summer. He made 79 appearances over his two spells at Penicuik Park.
David Edwards
Initally signed during the curtailed 2020/21 season, David established himself at the heart of the Cuikie midfield over his two full years at Penicuik Park, his combative style making him a popular figure. Affectionally known as 'Disco Dave', he leaves the Cuikie after 63 appearances and 6 goals.
Matty Combe
Signed in January 2021 from Tynecastle, injuries have unfortunately plagued Matty's time with the Cuikie, limiting the midfielder to just 32 appearances and 4 goals over the past eighteen months.
Gregor MacDonald
Gregor made the move to Penicuik from Heriot-Watt University last summer and got off to a perfect start, scoring a wonderful volley on his debut against Dundonald on the opening day, going on to make 25 appearances, finding the back of the net 5 times.
Fletcher Hendry
Fletcher also signed for the Cuikie last summer from Tynecastle, and made 11 appearances, scoring 3 times before spending time on loan firstly at Edinburgh South and then former club Tynecastle in the latter part of the season.
Lewis Turner
Lewis joined Penicuik back in March following his departure from Gretna 2008, becoming Calum Elliot's only signing for the club and he made 11 appearances during his stint at Penicuik Park.
Taylor Hendry
Taylor was a another summer 2022 signing after leaving Tynecastle, and he scored on his debut against Dundonald, going on to be our top scorer with 12 goals in 31 appearances.
Alex Chingwalu
Chingy's time with the Cuikie began last summer, and he memorably scored a late winner against Lothian Thistle HV in his second appearance for the club. A few injuries limited Alex to just 29 appearances and 2 goals during the season.
Andy Mair
Following an impressive spell as a trialist last pre-season, Andy officially signed prior to the start of the season. His only goal for the Cuikie came from a diving header at Sauchie, and he played 24 times for the club.
Reece Hope
Equally at home in defence and midfield, Reece joined us in the summer of 2021 and became popular for his hard work in a number of positions over the past two years. A spectacular goal against Lothian Thistle HV opened his account and he went on to pop up with 6 goals in his 66 appearances.
Leeroy Makavora
Signed in September last year, Leeroy only made two substitute appearances for the Cuikie, against Blackburn United and Peebles Rovers, his final game being last October.
Nico Salazar
Nico returned to Penicuik Park in January following a brief spell during the 2018/19 season, and he went on to make a further four subsitute appearances, taking his total to 8 games and 6 goals for the Cuikie.
With 485 appearances and 42 goals for our club between them, we wish all of those leaving us all the very best for the future and we thank you for your time at Penicuik Athletic.
