Scott McCrory-Irving to depart

We can confirm that midfielder Scott McCrory-Irving will leave Penicuik Athletic upon the expiry of his contract. The club did offer Scott a new contract but he has decided to explore new opportunities.

Scott joined the club from Edinburgh University at the beginning of season 2017/18, scoring his first goal in a Midlothian Derby win against Newtongrange in just his second match. He played his part in the East of Scotland Cup victory against Tranent, his corner delivery leading to Craig Hume’s opening goal.

He enjoyed a more prolific second season, as he bagged a number of important goals, though none as crucial as his equaliser against Musselburgh which ultimately clinched the Conference A title.

His streak of big match goals continued into his third and final season at Penicuik Park, as he bagged the only goal at Whitehill to send Penicuik into the William Hill Scottish Cup proper - a goal that also finished runner up in the goal of the season awards. His final goal in Penicuik colours came against Tranent in February with his final appearance in March against Bo’ness.

Overall Scott pulled on a Cuikie shirt 107 times, getting on the scoresheet on 11 occasions as well as creating 36 goals.

Everyone at the club wishes Scott all the very best in the future and thank you for your time at Penicuik.
