We can confirm that midfielder Sam Jones has agreed to join Spartans upon expiry of his contract. The club did offer Sam a new contract but he will step up to the Lowland League with his new side.
Sam initially joined Penicuik on loan from Berwick Rangers in January 2017, making his debut in a 3-2 win at Musselburgh in February, making thirteen appearances during his loan spell.
He made his stay permanent that summer and quickly established himself in the Cuikie midfield, bagging his first goal against Bonnyrigg in September 2017, scoring eight times that season in forty two appearances and was part of the East of Scotland Cup winning side.
Sam’s most prolific season at Penicuik was part of the East of Scotland Conference A winning squad, bagging nineteen goals in thirty-nine appearances, captaining the team for the first time in April 2019.
Last season saw Sam make a further twenty-nine appearances, adding another seven goals to his tally, most notably strikes against Easthouses Lily and Cumbernauld Colts in our Scottish Cup run.
Overall Sam pulled on a Cuikie shirt 123 times, getting on the scoresheet on 34 occasions as well as creating 13 goals.
Everyone at the club wishes Sam all the very best in the future and thank you for your time at Penicuik.
