In the 15th minute, sheer determination by Kateleza saw him win the ball but his strike hit the side netting. Then in the 19th minute, a high ball into the box was headed by Young, but the ball fell favourably for the Rose and JAMIESON slotted home from close range. On the half hour keeper Allison had to look sharp to cut out a dangerous McGachie cross. Penicuik began to exert some pressure on the visitors and in the 42nd minute, a fine move was finished off by JONES who cut across the eighteen yard box to curl home a great right foot strike and level the score.

HALFTIME | Penicuik Athletic 1-1 Bonnyrigg Rose

Three minutes into the half and Bonnyrigg earned a free kick just outside the Penicuik box, but Currie blasted the ball miles over the bar. Then a corner to Bonnyrigg was punched clear by Allison, but the loose ball was again thumped high over the bar. On the hour mark, a high ball out of defence allowed Kateleza to head the ball down and slip it to J HAMILTON who shrugged off his marker to drill the ball past Young giving the keeper no chance. Four minutes later, a free kick to Bonnyrigg brought out a double save by keeper Allison to maintain the home side’s lead. With the visitors building pressure, another corner kick saw a looping header go just wide of the target. Then a driving run by Kateleza set up substitute McCrory-Irving, but completely missed the ball and the danger was cleared. Bonnyrigg were piling on the pressure and almost got an equaliser when a long range strike by Turner beat Allison but crashed back off the crossbar. Then in the 87th minute, a driving run by Horne earned the visitors a penalty kick when he was up ended in the box by Hume. MARTYNUIK converted the spot kick, sending Allison the wrong way. One minute later, Penicuik had a great chance to retake the lead when Barr got round the back of the Rose defence and his cut back set up MacDonald, but Hamilton’s slight touch on the ball caused MacDonald to slice the ball over the bar.
