Two minutes later, it was two for Conor MCKENZIE as he slid in at the back post to convert Dochety’s cross. Before Penicuik could gather their thoughts, Camelon added a third two minutes later when Deans squeezed a pass to Ryan KANE who slotted home. Connolly tried to create a chance for himself but fired a powerful shot wide past Watt. Shortly afterwards, Baptie sent in a cross from deep but Stewart just failed get on the end of it. Then with Penicuik trying to find a way back O’Donnell combined with Stewart but the former fired right at Shaw. In the 25th minute, substitute Connolly tried to create a chance for himself but fired a powerful shot wide. To rub salt into the wound, Camelon were awarded a penalty in the 34th minute, but keeper Watt came to the rescue with a fine save. At the other end, Stewart drove in on goal and rounded Shaw but the ball broke to Jones and his goal bound effort was cleared for a corner. Just before half time, Stevenson broke down the wing and collected a one two before curling a low shot past the far post.
HALFTIME | Penicuik Athletic 0-3 Camelon Juniors
With a big second half performance required of Penicuik, in the 49th minute, a neat interchange between McCrory-Irving and O’Donnell led to Connolly setting up Stevenson but he dragged his shot wide. Then in the 57th minute, a Penicuik attack broke down and Camelon countered with Watt getting a foot to the ball to send McKenzie’s shot wide. On the hour mark, Baptie’s ball forward found Jones and he cut it back for Ponton who was denied by Shaw for a corner. Then followed a flurry of substitutions by both sides, that failed to change the flow of the game. In summation, this was a well deserved three points for Camelon and a poor Penicuik performance.
