The game started brightly, but it was Penicuik who took the lead in the second minute when a pass back by BAIN eluded keeper Polowyj who could only watch as the ball trundled into the empty net. Two minutes later, with Musselburgh claiming offside, Cole continued his run and crossed the ball to the front post where Polowyj did extremely well to cut out the danger. Then Munro of Penicuik was cautioned for a late tackle and Currie of Musselburgh was booked for his protestations. In the 17th minute Polowyj pulled off a great save to deny Cole. Three minutes later. Penicuik were awarded a penalty when Ryrie was up ended in the penalty box just as he was about to shoot. GAY confidently slotted the spot kick home. Munro and keeper Polowyj were booked for dissent. Immediately afterwards, Munro curled a shot over the Penicuik crossbar. At the other end, a miss-hit clearance by
Polowyj was picked up by Gay just inside the Musselburgh half. He volleyed the ball first time only
to see his long range effort side inches past the upright. Then King let fly with a left foot drive, but the ball went just wide of the target. In the 35th minute, a long raking pass by Foster pick out CAMERON who shot first time into the bottom corner of the net giving Polowyj no chance. From the restart, Bald had to get down quickly to save an effort by King. In the 39th minute a Ryrie effort went inches over
Musselburgh crossbar.

Four minutes into the second half, Currie was booked for the second time and headed for an early bath. Then Hawkins was booked for breaking early from the defensive wall when Penicuik were awarded a free kick just outside the box. In the 53rd minute, Cameron crossed the ball across the six yard box, but Montgomery' volley flashed past the post. Musselburgh pulled one back when substitute
TURNBULL headed home a free kick at the back post. Immediately afterwards, a sweeping move down the right by Musselburgh saw the ball knocked into the danger area where Hawkins got a touch on the ball, but failed to hit the target. Minutes later, McManus got his head to the ball to prevent Cameron from scoring. Then Cameron got on to the end of a cross by Gay, but his effort scraped past the right hand post. In the 67th minute, Montgomery hammered in a low cross to CAMERON who slammed the ball past Polowyj to make it 1 - 4. In the 79th minute, King was booked for kicking the ball away. Then substitute Lynch saw his delicate chip well saved by Polowyj. Porteous of Musselburgh was booked for dissent. In the 88th minute, a superb move by Penicuik saw the Musselburgh defence turned inside out by Montgomery's clever back heel to LYNCH who slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net from the edge of the penalty area. Two minutes into injury time, a defensive error by Musselburgh saw Cameron, McKean and Munro clear on keeper Polowyi. CAMERON took control, rounded the keeper, and slid the ball into the empty net.
