Kelty started at a blistering pace and Penicuik found themselves two goals down in the first five minutes. In the 3rd minute, a mistake by Liddell allowed CARGILL to steal the ball and slip it past Bejaoui. Then two minutes later, an excellent move up the left wing saw RITCHIE slam home a Gates cut back. In the 22nd minute a strike from outside the box by Barr went narrowly wide of the target. On the half hour, a corner to Kelty was met by Greig, but his header went straight into the arms of keeper Bejaoui. Three minutes later, a Gates cross into the box was headed over the bar by Dalziel. At the other end, a nice move by Penicuik saw Lough’s searching cross along the six yard box missed by everyone. Kelty immediately broke up the park and Ritchie set up Gates. His powerful strike was well saved by Bejaoui and the danger cleared. Play was swinging from end to end and Penicuik had loud claims for a penalty when Barr appeared to be taken down in the box by O’Neill, but referee Hall was unmoved. In the 38th minute, a long high ball was headed on to Greig, but his strike was tipped over the bar by Bejaoui. From the corner, Ritchie’s downward header went inches past the upright. Minutes later, another Kelty corner was headed over the bar, this time by O’Neill.

In the 53rd minute, a cross by Lough was met first time by McCallum, but keeper Allison got down well to save. Five minutes later, Currie should have done better, but his weak shot was comfortably gathered by Bejaoui. Then in the 59th minute, a long high ball beat the Penicuik defence. CARGILL held off Young to slot the ball past Bejaoui to put the game to bed. In the 67th minute, a long range strike by O’Neill had Bejaoui at full stretch to turn the ball past the post. From the corner, O’Neill rose above the defence and his header was glanced into the net by CARGILL for his hat trick. In the 74th minute, an attack by Penicuik, ended with an overhead kick by Somerville landed on the roof of the net. Three minutes later, a surging run by Barr saw him leave defenders in his wake and then set up substitute Blaikie, but his strike went straight into the arms of Allison. In the 86th minute, a Kelty corner kick was headed by O’Neill, beat keeper Bejaoui, but was cleared off the line by Jancyzk.
