Penicuik’s 100% record in the East of Scotland Conference A came to an end with a 2-1 defeat against Hill of Beath Hawthorn at Keirs Park. The early exchanges were fairly even with the action flowing from end to end until the hosts broke the deadlock with the match half an hour old, as Joe Kirby collected the ball and dribbled through the Cuikie defence before slotting it home.
HALFTIME | Hill of Beath Hawthorn 1-0 Penicuik Athletic
The second half saw Penicuik push forward in search of an equaliser which wouldn’t come until the seventy minute, when Sam Jones met a Lumbert Kateleza pass with a first time volley that flew over Hall in the Hill of Beath goal, the midfielder’s 13th strike of the season. However the ‘Haws’ were not to be denied and they grabbed the winner in the 86th minute as Lewis Payne squeezed the ball past Cordery with the aid of the post. A disappointing afternoon for the Cuikie as they ended the match with 10 men, as Greg Page received a straight red card in the 89th minute.
