Penicuik Athletic have accepted the resignation of Craig Meikle as Manager.
Craig had a brief spell as a Penicuik player in 2004 before rejoining the club in 2008.
Craig was appointed as joint player/manager alongside Bryan Ryrie in January 2010 and the duo kept the club in the Premier League, securing safety with a game left to spare. A season of consolidation followed before two last day promotion misses.
Craig then assumed the role of sole manager following the resignation of Bryan in July 2013. In his first season in sole charge, Craig led the club to the Premier League Championship and promotion to the Super League.
A successful debut season in the Super League followed, with the club finishing sixth and reaching the Quarter Finals of Scottish Junior Cup.
Then in what ultimately was his last season, Craig guided the club to the top of the Super League for the first time, though a dip in form saw Penicuik finish ninth. However, an excellent run in the Fife and Lothians Cup saw Penicuik defeat the Super League champions Bonnyrigg Rose 3-1 to lift the trophy.
Craig leaves the club having played 188 times, scoring seven times, having won the East Premier League and Fife & Lothians Cup, and with a managerial record of:
Overall
Played: 241
Won: 123
Drawn: 44
Lost: 74
Scored: 486
Conceded: 354
In sole charge
Played: 119
Won: 63
Drawn: 20
Lost: 36
Scored: 239
Conceded: 170
Everyone at Penicuik Athletic want to thank Craig Meikle for his eight years of fine service to the club and wish him every success in the future.
