Straight from the kick off Penicuik lost possession and only a timely block by Devlin prevented a goal in the opening seconds. At the other end a first time volley by Somerville was deflected wide for a corner kick. Then a long range effort by Lough went wide of the target and a Thomson free kick whistled inches over the bar. The home side took the lead in the 22nd minute when GRANT’s first time volley from the edge of the penalty box hit the back of the net. On the half hour, Somerville saw his overhead kick go wide of the goal. Camelon doubled their lead in the 36th minute when a long diagonal pass picked out Grant on the left wing. He passed the ball to the edge of the box where TAYLOR blasted the ball past Bejaoui. In the 38th minute, a great run and shot by Lough deserved better, but his effort crashed back off the upright and was cleared.
HALFTIME | Camelon Juniors 2-0 Penicuik Athletic
Five minutes into the half and Penicuik almost pulled a goal back when McCallum’s header went inches wide of the target. However, Penicuik were awarded a penalty in the 54th minute when Kelly handled in the box. McCALLUM scored the spot kick despite keeper Kane getting a hand to the ball. Penicuik were having their best spell in the game, but against the run of play, substitute ALLISON managed to chip the ball over Bejaoui in the 67h minute and the Penicuik defence could only look on as the ball trundled over the line. One minute later, a strike by Lough was deflected past the post by Bell. Then in the 74th minute, an angry confrontation saw Lough and Ure booked and A Grant red carded. With the home side down to ten men, Penicuik should have taken advantage but it was the home side who looked more likely to score and that was precisely what happened in the 82nd minute. A quick break down he left and a cross to GRANT saw him tap he ball home into the empty net.
FULLTIME | Camelon Juniors 4-1 Penicuik Athletic
